Creative jobs should not have time limits or time tracking
I work in a creative industry. Developing applications and websites is a creative process, just like architecting a building, or painting a canvas. A lot of employers in my industry require time tracking to the partial hour. My beef with this is that it restricts creativity. Spending time entering hours, or having a weight put on your conscience of having to work “8 hours” a day is a real burden to a creative person. Some days I might work 20 hours, others I might work 4 or 5 hours. It just depends on my state of mind and my current project status. I believe it is important to maintain consistency in your work, and that’s hard to do when the work itself becomes slavish and boring.
